If you are eating out, whether it is lunch or dinner, make sure that the other meals you are having should be extremely light and full of fiber (say, a glass of orange juice and a wholewheat bread for breakfast or sprouts/oats or any other healthy option) and you should have lots of water during the day. Eating out entails having varied type of food which may not suit your body type. Also, if you are going to have Indian style heavy food, it would be extremely good if you take 10 pallets of Carbo Veg, a homeopathic remedy that would prevent acid reflux. This can be taken 30 minutes before the meal and an hour after the meal as well.
So, if you are eating out (usually people go out for dinners), have a healthy and light breakfast (preferably between 7:30 am to 8 am), a light lunch (a mix of salads, fruits and pulses, say around 12:30 pm) and then possibly a fresh lime water (plain) at around 5 pm. If you still like your tea and coffee, no harm in having them, within moderate limits. Try to finish your lunch or dinner either with a simple fruit salad or with a bowl of plant-based yoghurt so that the intake doesn’t disturb your intestinal lining or create acid reflux in your body.
Diabetes (otherwise known as diabetes mellitus, DM) is described as a metabolic disorder in which your body cannot properly store and use fuel for energy.
The fuel that your body needs is called glucose (sugar). Glucose comes from foods such as breads, cereals, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruits, sweets and some vegetables and is also made in your liver and muscles. Your blood carries glucose to all of your body’s cells to use for energy.
To use glucose, your body needs insulin. Insulin is the hormone made by a gland in your body called the pancreas. Insulin regulates blood glucose by stimulating the removal of glucose from the blood and its uptake into muscle, liver and fat cells where it can be stored for energy.
Sometimes your body does not make enough insulin, or the insulin does not work the way it should. Glucose then stays in your blood and does not reach your cells. Your blood glucose levels get too high (hyperglycemia) and can cause diabetes or pre-diabetes. Pre-diabetes is when blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes.
However, if you consume a lot of fat (including meat fat, fried food), the capacity of your body’s inherent insulin diminishes. So, the villain here is the fat. Let us say if eating sugar is like an innocent mistake, consuming fat is like a felony.
The Usefulness of Medicine
Several classes of type 2 diabetes medicines exist. Each works in different ways to lower blood sugar. A drug may work by:
Stimulating the pancreas to produce and release more insulin
Inhibiting the production and release of glucose from the liver
Blocking the action of stomach enzymes that break down carbohydrates
Can you eat something sweet while you have diabetes?
The craving for sweets is pretty normal in diabetics. So, before I answer this question, you need to check your weight first. If by the definition of your Physician you are an obese person without any indulgence in exercises and toning your body, you cannot eat anything sweet but if you are healthy, with a fitness routine or any inclination towards fitness, yes you can indeed have anything sweet to eat, in the following way
As soon as you wake up, within the next 15-20 minutes, you can indeed have a portion of sweet, everyday! This would be your incentive for the day. But yes, you will need to work to earn this sweet. Once you are through with the daily toilet routine, just have a one-mile brisk walk, followed by some alternative medicine (example: Homeopathic Biochemic Tissue salt number 7 or any Ayurvedic medicine like Diabecon. If you like working on a Treadmill, a 15-minute workout is fine
Have healthy carbohydrates like Potatoes (yes, they are not bad)!
Have a bit of nutrition supplement after your breakfast (Two tablets of Geriforte – an Ayurvedic system balancer is recommended)
Minimize sugar intake or look at alternatives like palm jaggery or stevia or date syrup
Avoid all alcohol but one 60 ml drink twice in a month would do no harm
Avoid meat or Dairy products. Either minimize their intake or eliminate it completely
Have your optimum body weight as per the Body Mass index (BMI)
